- news · 2021-10-22 — Coloradoan coverage (syndicated): on October 21, 2021 the Fort Collins Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously approved The Foothills, Sun Communities' proposed 201-unit manufactured home community on 52 acres near Trilby Road and South College Avenue (6750 S College Ave). Developers said homes would sell for $150,000-$250,000 with lot rents of about $750/month, and 30 homes (15%) would be deed-restricted as affordable for at least 20 years for households at or below 80% of area median income; some neighbors questioned whether the homes would truly be attainable given the added lot rents. Themes: governance, rent - news · 2020-05-29 — Coloradoan coverage (syndicated) of the May 2020 hearing on The Foothills: several south Fort Collins neighbors objected to the project, arguing the area already had a concentration of low-income housing; Sun's representative (McLaren) reportedly could not say at that time what the land lease would add to residents' cost of living.
