What residents say elsewhere
Collected from public sources, summarized and attributed, with links to the originals. Summaries describe what reviewers and reporters say; allegations are not findings.
- google-reviews — Google reviews surfaced on the resort's own listing include a detailed billing complaint: a guest alleges they were overcharged and then called the campground for six weeks without a response; when finally reached, staff said the credit would go back on their card, but two weeks later nothing had been refunded, and on arrival staff still could not fix it because they did not know how. The same reviewer reports WiFi and cable not working and amenities (mini golf, pool) closed for weather and left closed, with rude staff responses. A second detailed review of a Labor Day weekend stay alleges $130-$172+/night site rates plus an added $10 resort fee (over $730 total), advertised holiday activities and bingo cancelled because only two staff were working, WiFi 'almost non-existent' despite the resort fee supposedly covering it, an undersized bathhouse trashed by early afternoon, and dated pool/playground/mini golf ($10 per person) - 'nothing has changed... except the price and the fees.' A third reviewer alleges outdated amenities, a dog park shown on the site map that was still only 'coming in 2023,' and unusable WiFi. Original source
Themes: fees, management, amenities - other · 3.4 (117 reviews) — Tripadvisor listing rates the resort 3.4 across 117 reviews. One detailed review alleges: a $30 early-arrival charge sprung on them (staff said it was in an email the guest says was sent to a wrong address, and it was pay or leave); being assigned the wrong site, then pressed to move faster when the error surfaced; a manager visit; and a promised 25% discount for the errors that was allegedly never given - the reviewer says they called Sun Outdoors corporate and never got a callback, and that the only thing done right was immediately billing their card. NOTE: some older reviews on this listing (e.g., a ~2011 review attacking named former managers and 'police-type security') predate Sun's 2021 acquisition of this property and concern prior ownership; they are not relied on here.
